ABSTRACTIONS ON THE THEME OF NATIONS
For more than thirty years, Pierre Bismuth’s work has questioned the status of the artist and his artistic production, which have been cannibalised by the leisure and entertainment industry. Bismuth manipulates the techniques and know-how of creation in order to better free himself from them. His work on flags, based on the principle of creating new national emblems by merging the flags of two different countries, continued in 2021 with this series specially designed for the New National Museum Of Monaco for the exhibition “Tremblements, acquisitions récentes du NMNM” (Tremors, recent acquisitions of the NMNM).
