Jean-Philippe Hugron is a historian and journalist specializing in architecture, founder of the online magazine Le Courrier de l’Architecte, for which he received the Académie d’Architecture’s Publication Medal in 2020. He is the author of Guide d’architecture Monaco : Beausoleil – Roquebrune-Cap Martin (2021), a book highlighting Monegasque achievements, and numerous monographs on buildings and architects. Invited to Monaco as part of the European Heritage Days, Jean-Philippe Hugron presents two itineraries: “Art Nouveau, Art Deco, New Modernities” and “In Monaco, the Tradition of Novelty.”

Along the Boulevard d’Italie, this tour explores Monaco’s metamorphoses. Picturesque villas, daring elevations, land-scrapers and sky-scrapers create a landscape where modernity never ceases to reinvent itself. From art nouveau to art deco, from liner style to Spirou architecture, from pop-modernism to postmodernism, this walk will also focus on the most recent and ambitious creations forming the Principality’s contemporary heritage.
